How to Prepare Your File for Printing: A Practical Guide from Alquaifil
Alquaifil's practical guide to print-ready files: bleed, cut line, safe zone, resolution, CMYK, and file formats — for a flawless final result.

In professional printing, preparing your file correctly is the single most important step toward an excellent result. In this guide, Alquaifil Printing Center walks you through the practical checklist we apply to every design file before it goes to press.
Key Terms in Print Files 🔍
Bleed
Extra area extending beyond the design’s edges (typically 3 mm on each side). It prevents white slivers from appearing along the edges after trimming.
Cut Line
The final boundary where the piece is trimmed after printing. Keep text and logos well away from it.
Safe Zone
An inner margin about 5 mm inside the cut line. Place all important elements — text, logos — within it to avoid accidental trimming.

Preparing the File Correctly 🛠️
Final size
Make sure the artwork matches the required print size exactly (A4, A5, or your custom dimensions).
Resolution
Work at 300 DPI for sharp, high-quality output.
Color mode
Design in CMYK — the color system printing presses use — and avoid RGB, which shifts on paper.
File format
The best formats are PDF, TIFF, and JPEG.
Convert all text to outlines (curves), and embed fonts and images inside the file.
Final Tips from Alquaifil ✍️
- Keep important elements away from the design’s edges.
- Avoid hairlines and details too fine to print cleanly.
- Send each design as a separate file.
